Did you know that Cinco de Mayo, also known as the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla (1862), is considered to be a significant turning point in the American Civil War? At the Battle of Puebla, the Mexican Army was able to defeat the French, halting their support of the Confederacy and enabling Union forces to make advances.
The holiday was first celebrated in the United States in 1863. Today, Cinco De Mayo has become a large celebration of Mexican culture, traditions, food, and beverage!
