A true beach community well known for its great beaches Folly Beach is unlike any other city or region of Greater Charleston. Folly Beach the town where George Gershwin was staying when he composed the classic Porgy and Bess. Today, this Charleston County town continues to inspire its 3000 or so residents and its endless array of visitors. It is best recognized by its unique mix of surf shops, dining, gift shops, offices and bars along Center Street; the main road and gateway to this thriving community that is accessed through James Island.
Folly Beach is a one stoplight town with eclectic energy buzzing on Center Street. Visit the beachy casual restaurants for fun Folly cocktails and array of seafood! My favorites are: The Lost Dog Cafe, Jack of Cups Saloon, Taco Boy, Wiki Wiki Sandbar, Lowlife Bar, and Surf Bar. They are all so much FUN!
